Back Surgery Procedures
Many surgery procedures can be done using a minimally invasive set of techniques. These are typically outpatient procedures, they make small incisions and leave little scar tissue thus enabling a faster recovery. Minimally invasive surgery procedures may include Foraminotomy, Laminotomy, and Micro-discectomy.
We offer a number of these procedures at our locations:
Foraminotomy
Laminotomy
Percutaneous Endoscopic Discectomy
Facet Thermal Ablation
Facet Thermal Ablation
Facet Thermal Ablation is a procedure that removes a part of the facet. Facet joints are bony/joint structures in the spinal canal that connect the vertebrae to one another. There are two facet joints between each vertebrae, located on each side of the vertebrae, and they provide stability, support and mobility to the vertebrae (spine / back). The surgeon uses a laser to clean the facet joint and deadens the nerve that causes painful symptoms. Thermal ablation refers to the laser eradication of this effected nerve.
A Facet Thermal Ablation can be used to treat the following conditions:
Facet Disease
Facet Joint Syndrome
Facet Hypertrophy
Facet Arthritis
Degenerative Facet Joints
Foraminotomy
Foraminotomy is a procedure that removes the foramina to increase the size of the nerve pathway this relieves the symptoms of nerve root compression. The foramina is the area where the nerve roots exit the spinal canal. This nerve root compression can be caused by bone, disc, scar tissue, or excessive ligament development and that results in the pinched nerve. This surgery can be done alone or with a laminotomy. In fact many of our surgeries have multiple procedures performed.
A Foraminotomy of the Spine is used to treat the following conditions:
Foraminal Stenosis
Herniated Disc
Bulging Disc
Pinched Nerve (nerve root compression)
Bone Spurs
Arthritis of the Spine
Sciatica
Laminotomy
A laminotomy is a surgical procedure that removes small portions of the lamina or vertebra that is causing pressure on the spinal canal and the exiting nerve root and spinal cord. This increases the amount of space available for the neural tissue and thus releasing the nerve(s) and alleviating the pain.
A Laminotomy of the Spine is used to treat the following conditions:
Bone Spurs
Pinched Nerve
Spinal Stenosis
Herniated Disc
Bulging Disc
Arthritis of the Spine
Percutaneous Endoscopic Discectomy
A Percutaneous Endoscopic Discectomy is a procedure that removes disc material that is pressing on a nerve root or the spinal cord through a very small incision.
A Percutaneous Endoscopic Discectomy is used to treat the following conditions:
Degenerative Disc Disease
Herniated Disc
Bulging Disc
Pinched Nerve (nerve root compression)
Sciatica
If surgery is your only option, please contact us for a Free MRI Review and talk to a patient coordinator to see how we may be able to help you get rid of that back pain!
